Here's a quote I found recently that I liked:
"It is better to write a bad first draft than to write no first draft at all."
-Will Shetterly
In other news, three WC tutors are celebrating birthdays this. Happy Birthday to Neal, Jason, and Julia!

Write Here, Write Now
The best lesson I've learned about writing is that you need to do it "right here, right now."
I used to think that I needed to set aside time from my regular schedule to write when doing an assignment or even free writing for myself; I needed to make an hour or so of time free to be alone and get my thoughts straight. This is certainly true in some cases, but I've come to find that, in fact, sometimes jotting down ideas in between classes or during lunch produces some of my best work. To any writers struggling to find time in their day to write, I suggest trying this out for yourself: if you have 10 minutes in between classes, or a free five minutes during work, find a post-it note/your planner/a blank sheet of paper and write whatever comes to your mind... when you revisit your writing later, you'll be surprised what can come out.
In addition, check out this website featuring 'lost and found' notes, drawings, jottings, etc posted for your enjoyment!!

Hello, again!
Well we're back at it again!
It's the end of the first week of the semester for the Writing Center, and we have already had several appointments. Our Facebook account has been busier than ever, too! Is this a sign of things to come?...
There's not a whole lot of new news, but remember that we welcome appointments for all students and projects, including review for the writing competency exam.
Look for more blog posts next week. :)
